Our partner the British International School Budapest is looking for a full-time employee for the following position:
SCHOOL NURSE
English language skills are essential!

School Nurse Role:
- Provide and document first aid treatment for minor illnesses for all students and staff
- Inform parents and the appropriate school staff when a child is ill and requires collection
- Arrange appointments for staff to see the staff doctor for required annual medicals
- Arrange for all students’ annual medicals with pediatrician
- Help the school doctor to organise and administer routine vaccinations according to ANTSZ regulations
- Organise, publish and maintain a current list of students who are at risk due to medical conditions
- Create and maintain an individual care plan for all students who have serious medical issues such as diabetes, risk of anaphylaxis
- Create and maintain a current list of students with special dietary requirements. Communicate this to the Head of Kitchen and Dietician
- Create and maintain a current list of staff who are qualified first aiders and their qualification expiry date. Arrange for refresher courses as needed
- Organise and maintain first aid supplies for medical room
- Ensure first aid kits throughout the school site are updated annually, checked and maintained regularly through the year. Maintain a list of sites of first aid kits in the medical room handbook
- Organise mobile first aid kits to take off site for field trips, coordinated with the staff in charge of the trip. Ensure all students with individual medical needs, such as inhalers and EPIPENS are provided for
- Teach in the classrooms as requested by teaching staff, eg: handwashing, medicine safety, healthy lifestyles
- Provide first aid cover for weekend tournaments if needed
- Keep up to date with risks related to epidemics and inform the Principal and Heads of School of any additional action needed
- Provide community medical news through the school newsletter from time to time, to inform families of seasonal risks
- Provide emergency medical care and liaise with emergency services and paramedics as necessary, providing clear information and support
Requirements:
- Professional health education (nursing or midwifery). The work requires a high degree of independence and decision-making!
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience
- English - higher advanced/fit for negotiation, fluent Hungarian (work requires English speaking and writing daily)
- Good communication ability
- Empathic attitude towards children and colleagues
- IT knowledge
- Clear criminal record and legal capacity
